Shawn Brown
Track Marshal
Shawn started riding dirt bikes at the age of 6 and developed his uncanny talent for wrecking them at about age 6 1/8! His father was heavily into racing motocross himself, so it was only fitting for his son to follow suit, and began racing at age 7 at PIR on his built JR-50. By the time high school rolled around, he realized girls sucked and bikes had more sex appeal, and by his early 20’s he was racing local MX tracks at the intermediate and amateur-pro levels.
In the summer of 2007 Shawn’s dad convinced him to “stop milking it on the dirt” and get a street bike so they could do some track days together, so he finally bought his first bike, a 2007 GSX-R 750. As fortune would have it, his first track day was in the rain and he quickly found out that going off the track with slicks in wet grass isn’t a good thing… minor learning curve to overcome. After having his first wreck under his belt, Shawn and his dad made a trip to Thunderhill, and that was when he really got hooked. Maybe because this time, his knee was the only thing that went down. Shawn rode a handful of track days until 2010 and always loved the professionalism and friendly faces of the 2Fast staff, and before long, was asked to come on board as a marshal. His cameo appearance was sliding across the pavement through T1 on his second lap, but, as he likes to put it, “Sometimes you have to crash to find your speed!” If you can keep up with him, he’ll find it for you too.
After eight long years of not racing, Shawn decided to put his ADHD and bottled energy to good use with his comrades in OMRRA’s Novice class, graduating early and earning a few trophies in the process for 2010. For the 2011 season, you will catch him making waves (or in T4’s pond) in the 750 Superbike class, marshaling for 2Fast and eating Starbursts and Zingers, in the paddocks…
